Then we dressed Ellie up as a twig with the terminal bud (on the top of her head) and other buds on her arms.  Then we put lenticels on her to let the air and gases in and out.  We put bump stickers on her to show where leaf scars are.  She also had bark.  For our third activity, we went to our nature trial. With a partner, we took turns being blindfolded. Our partner took us to a tree. We had to feel the tree and smell the tree to see if we could find it once the blindfold was taken off.  We also identified the following trees: 1.    Black Cherry: spiky, alternate branches, rough, bumpy 2.   White Ash: smelled odd, lines in the bark, branches are opposite 3.   White Pine: rough, bumpy bark sap, long needles in clusters of five, rings of branches 4.   Maple: smooth bark, a few bumps, opposite branches   Contribute by email You can add your thoughts or your own pictures to this site by sending an email and including your pictures as attachments.
